Soccer Through Out the Years
Ever since about fifth grade, soccer has been my passion. It all started when I had my first crush on this guy who played soccer everyday during lunch and I eventually got caught up in that, leading to what has been five years of kicking a ball around. I played recreational soccer from fifth grade to ninth grade, and that was a really good thing for me. During that time, I played defensively so I was in the back end of the field. At this point in time, I feel like my team was put together really well and we knew each to the point of being capable of bringing home the wins.

Once I got to high school, I began playing for Benson Polytechnic High School where I was a varsity player as a freshman. That was a major change for me, going from recreational to varsity and at the time it was a huge achievement. One of the limitations of Benson was the fact that it's a smaller high school so there wasn't as many girls playing soccer as the average high school, making the selection for players limited. Within the past two years, we have won one game, and tied a few. It was very hard to compete against some of the higher rated teams, and sometimes even hard to step onto the field.
2013-2014 Varsity top, Junior Varsity bottom
This year was the hardest for me due to the lack of players as well as the lack of desire the players for benson had to play. I was varsity caption as a sophomore and I was the only person who made goals the whole season, which made me feel like I had accomplished something. The craziest part for me was the fact that it was my first year playing offensive yet I was one of the top forwards. I guess that sounds pretty self centered, but honestly I have worked so hard to be able to play where I do.
2014-2015 Benson Varsity
Once high school season ended, I tried out for a club team, Portland City United, and made it. I was nervous and honestly I felt disappointed in myself because I felt like I performed poorly and didn't showcase what I was actually good at. But the call finally came and I was accepted onto the team. So currently I've been playing club for about two months, and I'm pretty much being forced to start over. One of the hardest things to adapt to is the pressure and all of the competition. At Benson, there wasn't much competition, and at the most it was between three girls, versus at PCU where the number of girls that I'm competing with is around 30. I feel so negative right now, which really doesn't do this situation justice because I'm beyond happy with being on this team and with my teammates skills. Last weekend, we played in our second tournament which involved five games, and were undefeated and came home champions. We played so well and didn't give up any goals the whole weekend.
